The only completely abstract work on the route, and the only one painted with spray paint: Moneyless on the side façade of the 1930 school building.
The theme of the work
An abstract style that recalls Kandinsky, movement and music, painted with spray paint in colours that are deliberately not solid: the avant-garde of the 1930s on the façade of a school building of the 1930s.
It is the only mural on the route for which a preparatory sketch was made before it was presented to the townspeople: as the building is a school dating from 1930, a rendering of the project was submitted in advance to the Superintendency.
It is also the only completely abstract work of La Collina delle Fiabe, and the only one made with spray paint rather than with a brush or a roller. The theme recalls the abstract movement born with the avant-garde and with the Futurist manifesto in those very 1930s — the same years as the building. The references to Kandinsky, to movement and to music are explicit.
The colours are deliberately not solid. They are the fruit of the artist’s search for an unfinished mark, like that of a marker running dry, of a pencil or of a spray can down to its last drops.
The special quality of the painting emerges at certain hours of the day, when the work is reflected in the windows of the gym opposite and creates the illusion of stained-glass windows. The choice of the mural was agreed with the son of Gaetano Bardini, the internationally renowned Riparbella tenor who died in 2017, and after whom the little square will be named.
