Il Giardino Sospeso: courses and prices

Eleven treetop ropes courses, from 90 cm tall upwards, plus archery, a magic wood and treasure hunts.

• The courses are 11: 2 for children over 90 cm, 3 for children over 110 cm and 6 for adults.
• Each course is a series of fixed and hanging platforms linked by crossings of different difficulty and length: bridges, traverses, nets, zip lines.
• On arrival you are given a harness, lanyard with karabiners, pulley and helmet, and there is an initial safety briefing.
• You will need closed trainer-type shoes and sportswear. Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
• Entry to the park is free for anyone accompanying who is not doing the courses.

• Family: €2 off each ticket, for groups of 4 or more from the same family.
• Groups, schools, birthdays and companies: dedicated rates and special openings on request. The park also runs team building activities and environmental education programmes.
• Partner discounts: reduced rates for UNPLI members and military personnel with a valid card.

Green Riders: experiences and prices

Onewheels and e-bikes in the woods and the wind farm, courses for young people and families, excursions and wine trekking between the wineries of Riparbella.

Green Riders Experience is the sporting name of Kitewell ASD, an association based inside the Giardino, at Porcarecce. Its playground is the meadows, gravel roads and paths of the forest estate and the nearby wind farm. All the machines are electric: they do not pollute and make no noise, which is why you often come across the animals of the wood.

An educational and sporting programme, free of charge for children and young people from age 7 and for families, run by Green Riders Experience with the municipal administration: six three-hour lessons each, with nature as the training ground. No experience is needed, and parents are invited to take part alongside their children.

• Safe mountain bike riding: balance, braking, position and control of the bike.
• Road safety: rules and signs on mixed routes.
• Emergency mechanics: sorting out small problems on your own.
• Handling woodland routes: lines, natural obstacles, roots, tight corners.
• An introduction to jumps and obstacles, learning independence and respect for the environment.

Prices are those published by the association and may vary: confirm availability, times and minimum numbers when you book. The MTB Experience courses run to a calendar, and enrolment is free.

BiodiverCity, the city of biodiversity

A hectare of land in the green of the Giardino, with animals at the centre and inclusion as the method: it always starts with taking care of someone.

The project began in 2018 and took the name «BiodiverCity, la città della biodiversità». The idea is to build a green, sustainable setting that brings together zoology and the relationship between humans and animals, using it as a tool for acquiring skills and for reducing prejudice and mistrust. It is led by a social promotion association chaired by Giada Frosini, a psychomotor therapist.

The principle is simple: caring for the animals, in a setting of listening without judgement. Here disability is regarded as a resource and teamwork as a value — and the variety of animals is part of the method, because it lets everyone find the one they feel most affinity with.

• Horses, a pony and donkeys — the big animals, the ones that teach calm and respect for another’s pace.
• Goats, Vietnamese pigs and a Highland cow — the most curious and recognisable part of the garden.
• Hens — daily care, the first act of looking after something that is within everyone’s reach.
• Dogs and cats — the most immediate relationship, the one that opens the door to all the others.

• Hands-on workshops and shared observation around the animals and the woodland environment.
• Summer camps and a play centre for children and young people.
• Rehabilitation and social re-education programmes, in collaboration with local assisted residential facilities.
• Volunteering for teenagers: caring for the animals together, as an experience of responsibility.
• Open days and celebrations through the year, announced on the association’s social media pages.

It is not a park with free entry: activities, open days and visits are arranged with the association, which publishes its programme on its social media pages.

Riding in the Giardino

A bike park inside a certified forest: the tracks follow the ground rather than rewriting it.

The Giardino-Scornabecchi estate is an area under FSC- and PEFC-certified forest management and, for a large part of it, a wildlife restocking zone. The bike park lives within that constraint, which is also its identity: no earthworks, no runs cut into the hillside, no uplift, but tracks that follow the shape of the wood — dirt jumps, banked corners, natural rollers, technical sections among roots and tight turns. You pedal up and come down on single track.

Access is free and the trail area is open all year round. For guided rides, courses and hire, the point of reference is Green Riders Experience (Kitewell ASD), which is based inside the Giardino and also uses these tracks for the MTB Experience course.

• Marina di Cecina – Scornabecchi — 39 km, +607 m and −605 m, intermediate level: from the sea to the trail area and back.
• The Prunicce loop — 9.8 km, +228 m, medium+: the benchmark mountain bike loop inside the Giardino, among vineyards and scrub.
• Anello del Vino — a 46 km loop linking the nine wineries of Riparbella, with a GPX track available.
• About 65 km of trails in the Regional Agricultural and Forestry Estate and in the countryside around the town, with mountain bikes and e-bikes allowed.
• Mountain bike and e-bike hire on site, with guides on request.

• Always wear a helmet and keep your speed sensible: the trails are shared with people on foot and with the animals of the wood.
• Stay on the marked tracks: going off-piste damages the undergrowth and disturbs wildlife during breeding.
• Take note of the hunting seasons and the seasonal restrictions shown on the signs at the entrance.
• Do not cross into the wildlife enclosure: visits inside are only made with a guide.
• Take your rubbish away with you, including organic waste.

The Municipality of Riparbella has been awarded around 50.000 € from the «Bici in Comune» call by Sport e Salute and ANCI — one of only 135 municipalities under 5,000 inhabitants selected from over a thousand applications. From the end of 2026, together with Proloco Riparbella, Kitewell ASD, the Riparbella Winegrowers’ Association and Riparbella Green, the itineraries will be enriched with an interactive game: you ride, you discover the area, you win prizes.

The trail area is evolving: the tracks are looked after and updated by the riders and the association, and the reference map is the collaborative one on Trailforks. Before setting off, check the state of the trails and the hunting seasons.

Osteria del Cinghiale: the table of the woods

«A place where you recognise Tuscany in the flavours»: game, mushrooms, pulses and wild herbs, a stone’s throw from the sea and inside the woods.

Honest ingredients, slow cooking, family recipes. The produce comes from the surrounding area — including home-made cured meats — and the menu revolves around game, with the grill always lit.

• A glazed veranda and tables outside looking onto the meadow and the woods.
• Picnic area and barbecues next to the restaurant, in the entrance clearing of the Giardino.
• Parking, accessible facilities, bar and table service.
• It is also the place to eat for the adventure park and the starting point of almost all the trails.
