Amphora

The mural tells the story of Riparbella’s rural countryside and of what grows there: olive trees and vineyards, the elements that draw the landscape around the town.

The image that holds the work together is that of the vessel. The amphora keeps the wine and its story and becomes a container of images dictated by its own surface; in the same way, like wine as it matures, the wall keeps the essence of a landscape and of its memory.

Hence the relationship with the building. The wall is not simply a backdrop, but the space in which the work unfolds and of which it becomes an integral part. The landscape is not merely depicted on the surface: it takes shape and is generated directly from it, as if it were emerging from the very substance of the wall.

The visual register is in dialogue with sgraffito, an ancient traditional technique found in Tuscany, from which Tellas takes the two tones and the compositional feel. The work was created thanks to a contribution from the Tuscany Region, under regional law no. 10 of 4 February 2025 on the Regional Council’s measures concerning the rights of the person and the promotion of local identity.
