Il Bure
The bure is the long beam of the plough. Zamoc places an ancient, human-scale machine at the heart of Riparbella, as a reflection on time.
The theme of the work
A symbol of slowness, at a time when technology moves faster than those who should govern it.
The bure is the long beam of the plough, the length of wood that links the strength of the animal to the gesture of the farmer. Putting an ancient technology like the plough at the heart of Riparbella is a clear statement, at a time when technology moves faster than those who should govern it.
Humanity has always lived alongside technological innovation, and society has either benefited from it or paid the price. That is why Zamoc felt the need to paint ancient symbols: the plough is a machine, perhaps the first, but a human-scale one, and whoever ploughs walks at the pace of nature.
The symbol of slowness also speaks of Riparbella, where farming traditions have given way to the monoculture of the vine.
A reflection on time, which the land knows and we are forgetting.
